Building e-health across Australia

The National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA) is the lead organisation
supporting the national vision for e-health in Australia, working openly, constructively and collaboratively with consumers, providers, funders, policy makers, the broader healthcare industry and health IT vendors.

Connecting the health system

The e-health initiative is the backbone of one of the most ambitious and powerful information integration projects ever undertaken by governments both in Australia or overseas.

Think of it is an ecosystem for connecting a range of technological areas that are now seen as part of the e-health field. The result is collaboration on a national level that until recent times, no one could have predicted.

An innovation environment

This will be a time to embrace change as healthcare is transformed to a fully connected environment. How do we know? We are helping to make it happen by establishing the core foundations for seamless electronic information exchange across the health sector.

The advantages are simple

No boundaries, no walls, but with the promise of the highest level of messaging security and privacy standards.

The role of vendors

Vendors will play a key role in the implementation of national e-health initiatives.

Meeting vendor needs

NEHTA is committed to addressing vendor needs at each stage of the vendor journey:

  • probity - no vendor will be given favoured consideration
  • clarity - vendor briefings will be aligned with HI Service releases
  • flexibility - product development can be staged to match each jurisdiction's e-health timetable
