National Authentication Service for Health (NASH)

As significant amounts of sensitive and personal information are being sent electronically around the globe, there is a need to guarantee the authenticity and validity of the information that is being exchanged. In the case of personal health information, there is an even greater imperative to ensure that information is collected and securely exchanged.

The National Authentication Service for Health (NASH) will deliver a nationwide authentication service for healthcare organisations and providers. Authentication will be based on digital certificates, managed through Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and secured by smartcards. Certificate-based authentication will be available to any healthcare provider organisation registered with a HPI-O and individual providers registered with a HPI-I.
